The herd
Nine friendly, people-oriented gaited mountain horses. Groom, bond, learn herd behaviour, and — when it’s right for the horse — ride bitless and gently.
Meet them →A hidden valley in south-west Normandy, a herd of rare-breed gaited mountain horses, and an affordable, unhurried place to gather, host or simply breathe.
Erica Flegg moved from the UK to this beautiful corner of south-west Normandy in 2017, bringing her horses to a ten-hectare smallholding of pasture, woodland and spring-fed ponds. La Volée is both embedded in the village of Ger and entirely private — set back from the road behind its traditional cider-apple orchard.
It’s an affordable venue, with or without catering, for teachers and facilitators hosting a small workshop or retreat — and an open, unhurried place to walk, ride, swim wild and slow right down.
